Three Belarussians charged with “deceitfully seizing” a Ryanair aircraft, according to EU agency, Eurojust.

On 23 May 2021, Ryanair Flight 4978 diverted to Minsk after Belarus air traffic controllers claimed there was a bomb on board. “The forced landing…caused a direct threat to the life and health of the 132 passengers”

No bomb was found. The real reason for diverting the plane was to seize a a Belarusian dissident, says Eurojust.

“A three-year investigation has led to the charging of three Belarusian nationals for deceitfully seizing a Polish aircraft in Belarus to arrest a dissident.
